Labrador retriever training, AKC and HCR hunt test training, professional gun dog training, black and yellow Labrador retreiver puppies for saleLabrador retriever trainer Lonny Taylor is a professional gun dog trainer with close to 100 AKC Master Hunter titles to prove his success in retriever training. A member of the Master Hunter Hall of Fame with his black Labrador, Darth, Lonny Taylor is known for achieving consistent training results in dog training. “My goal is to bring a dog to his maximum potential,” Lonny says. While some trainers have a “one method works for all dogs” approach, Lonny recognizes that each dog has a unique personality, from “hard-headed but talented” to “soft but biddable,” and each retriever needs a training program tailored to his or her unique personality and talents. Consequently, Lonny has won many Master Hunter and Field Champion titles with Labrador retrievers and golden retrievers that other trainers had given up on. It’s appropriate that Lonny’s kennel is named “Taylor Made Retrievers”. In fact, Lonny is one of the few trainers recommended by champion Standard Poodle breeders to train these unique dogs for the hunt. Lonny Taylor also trains hunting dogs for many different purposes. “Many of the waterfowl and upland guide services bring me dogs to train,” Lonny says. “They have unique needs. Some guys hunt out of pit blinds, while others hunt out of boats. Sometimes the dog will have to sit under a large decoy, and other times the dog must be steady while positioned at a remote location. I am known for training dogs to fit their unique situations.” For hunting dog handlers who like to measure their dog’s abilities and accomplishments, the AKC Hunt Test program is a yardstick that accurately measures a dog’s capabilities in the field and marsh. While many trainers like to keep their dogs in training year-round, believing that a couple months of hunting will mess up their training program, Lonny Taylor believes otherwise.
